Abstract

This is a tribute book to heroines of freedom who fought against propaganda, ideology, communism, fascism, and Nazism. Women writers - intellectuals, witnesses or victims - denounced totalitarianism with extraordinary efforts. This book represents an anthology of their testimonies, memoirs, articles, secret notebooks or clandestine brochures. Among them are the German student Sophie Scholl, executed at the age of twenty-two; the pianist Zhu Xiao-Mei, imprisoned in a labor camp, as well as Diana Budisavljević, Mitra Mitrović, and others
