General Dmitry Sergeyevich Levshin (1801–1871) was the third consul of Russia in the Principality of Serbia, following G.V. Vashchenko and G.I. Danilevsky. He served as a diplomat in Belgrade from the summer of 1849 until late autumn 1851. The political and diplomatic relations between Serbia and Russia in the 1840s and 1850s were characterized by mutual distrust. According to Serbian sources, Consul Levshin held a strong stance towards the Serbian government, particularly towards the then pro-Western-oriented Ilija Garašanin. This paper will analyze Levshin's consulate in Belgrade based on Serbian sources, primarily those preserved in the State Archives of Serbia in Belgrade
