Abstract

This paper depicts the structure of the Zemun military community as represented in the Cadastral Book and Map from 1780. The distribution of the edifices and land owned or controlled by the central (military and cameral) authorities, local institutions (the Municipality) and private owners, testifies that the land in the Zemun district was used in a planned and organized manner. The circumstances in the Municipality in 1780 were seen as a result of the already completed process of spatial organization, whose origins are linked to the first years of the militarization of Southern Srem (1739–1745)
