Abstract
The emigration of Muslims from Bosnia and Herzegovina, although most massive after the occupation in 1878 and the Annexation in 1908, took place throughout Austro-Hungarian rule in this Slavic province in which the Slavic element consisted not only of Muslims but of Orthodox and Catholic Christians as well. In addition to political and public workers, Serbian writers from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century also joined the efforts to prevent the emigration of Muslims from Bosnia to Turkey. The paper will deal with the topic of the emigration of Bosnian Muslims in the specified period through the two most representative examples of Serbian literature of that time and on that topic. The first example is the anthological poem Stay Here by the famous Serbian poet and writer Aleksa Šantić, published in 1896 in the literary magazine "Zora", while the second example is the lesser known but extremely impressive engaged drama Muhajir by Serbian writer, poet and public worker Osman Djikic, the most famous representative of Bosnian Muslims who called themselves "Serbs of the Muslim faith"
