Arabic writers preserved valuable records about development of the European Medieval cities and trade routs which connected them. Written sources about Early Medieval cities which we poses originate mostly from the Arabic travelogues. Arab geography and cartography developed under influence of ancient books, and caliphs provided generous rewards for those who translated the Antique manuscripts into Arabic. While Christianity disabled scientiest to research during the Dark Ages, rapid and successful Islamic conquest contributed to the development of science, history, geography and cartography among the Arabs. Relevant information about Europen lands and cities often comes from the accounts of contemporary Arab traders and travellers. Intense trade relations were maintained between Arabs and Western world between the 9th and 12th centuries, at the time of the Abbasid or Baghdad Caliphate (750-1258). Arabic merchants brought exotic, oriental goods, and left numerous hoards of Islamic silver coins, dirhams, all around Europe. After the journeys many travelogues were written, that contained interesting data about geography and history of the European Medieval lands and new urban centers
