Abstract

A large territory in the southeast, liberated in the 1876-1878 wars, was annexed to the Principality of Serbia in 1878. This paper aims to point out the specifications of agricultural production in the liberated areas and the degree in which they resulted from a longer life in the Ottoman Empire or the regional characteristics stemming from natural conditions. To this end, a comparison is made between the old and new areas, as well as across specific regions within these two territorial units
